Our Focus

Supporting a Safe, Secure, Sustainable Food Supply in Asia through Plant Science

Crop Protection

Crop protection products, commonly referred to as pesticides or agrochemical products are either naturally occurring or man-made (synthetic) chemicals that help farmers grow more food from less land by protecting crops from big losses to pests and diseases and raising productivity per hectare. With a growing global population that is projected to rise to around 10 billion by 2050, crop protection products offer a means to meet the challenge of growing more from with less.

Plant Biotechnology and Seeds

With global hunger on the rise, the number of undernourished people on the planet at 815 million in 2016 and the food security situation worsening in parts of Asia, plant biotechnology offers a unique solution for nations across Asia.

Partnerships

From feeding a population expected to reach nine billion by 2050, to protecting soil, water and natural habitats, the world’s farmers are faced with many challenges.

Stewardship

CropLife Asia is committed to promoting effective stewardship in both crop protection and plant biotechnology. We believe that the appropriate management and use of our products help underpin sustainable agriculture and safeguard the environment and public health.

Regulatory Affairs

CropLife Asia supports an innovation-friendly regulatory environment that promotes both environmental protection and human safety. The organization believes that sound regulation will provide an avenue for farmers to access key plant science technologies and encourage sustainability practices in agricultural communities.

Anti-Counterfeiting and Intellectual Property

Anti-Counterfeiting (ACF) and Intellectual Property (IP)

True to its mission of advocating sustainable food production, CropLife Asia has been at the forefront of anti-counterfeiting and intellectual property advocacy for the plant science industry in Asia Pacific. Through workshops, awareness campaigns and engagement with multiple stakeholders, CropLife Asia has voiced the need to use the industry’s products only with the highest ethical standards.
