A holistic approach
CropLife Asia promotes the principles of integrated pest management (IPM) to farmers. IPM is a holistic approach to sustainable crop production. Under the IPM principles, farmers make use of the best combination of cultural, biological and chemical measures, including plant biotechnology, to provide effective, environmentally sound and socially acceptable methods of managing diseases, insects and weeds. IPM strategies stress the important role of crop protection products to manage and control pests, and that they need to be used appropriately, whenever needed. CropLife Asia’s training programmes on the responsible use of crop protection products are delivered in the context of IPM principles.
We are committed to IPM, as defined by the FAO International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides, as a sustainable approach to crop protection.
